Wow, another night of great music by some HEADZ. We welcome back Housepitality friend Alland Byallo who is in town from Berlin. He will connect with homie Dave Aju to rock a collaborative set like never before. Alland has played for us every time he comes home from Berlin so it only makes sense to have him back and flex his skills and show us some of the sounds behind his new Bad Animal label which has been blowing up lately. Byallo and Aju have been spending some creative time in the studio recently so this is somewhat of a sneak peek preview into something more than we realize.. Regardless. two local world class artists coming together at our house.. This could not be better!!! Seriously.. Oh yeah, Dave Aju recently played for us recently with Tone of Arc and it was amazing... Um, we CAN'T wait to see what he does with Alland!

We pull out Kontrol's Craig Kuna out of the metaphorical local dj crate this week because it just made so much sense to have samurai vinyl dj skills and tuxedo tight tracks to set the mood to Alland and Dave. This should be Ill because if you ever went to KONTROL parties then you know Craig Kuna is SICK and we are here to remind you of this. Joel Conway warms up the front his a special HOUSE SET for us.. As you might know he is a serious record collector of every genre and picks out TOP notch music.. He is gathering the house heat from his 20,000 plus collection of vinyl... JP SOUL of Roam Recordings another great friend of ours and avid vinyl collector will drop his royal heat of backroom selections to groove you down. He runs the deliciously cut Roam Recordings label.. yep. sickness is assured... we got you in 2013!!

Alland Byallo

Dubbed an “elegant dark lord of the dance floor” by XLR8R Magazine, Alland Byallo is a DJ, producer, label owner, graphic designer and event organizer – a tour de force within the club and underground music scenes.

Born in Los Angeles, Alland began his musical journey at a young age. Trying his hand at piano and trumpet as a young boy and influenced by the experimental electronic sounds of the early 90s, Alland grew captivated with the world of dance music, began experimenting with basic production and eventually bought his first pair of turntables. While working at WAX Records, LA’s now defunct authority on dance music, Alland’s tastes matured, and a move to San Francisco in 2003 saw Alland’s star rise quickly; while in SF, Alland honed his talents DJ-ing at respected venues stateside and overseas, started his own an underground dance music label named Nightlight Music and launched one of California’s most inspired techno-focused nightclub events, the monthly [KONTROL].

Gaining global attention producing gems for definitive record labels like Poker Flat, Liebe*Detail, Dirt Crew and Missive, by the time Alland garnered four stars from influential web-based dance music magazine Resident Advisor for his original full-length album release, Brick By Brick (2009), Alland’s devotion to the techno-house sound was plain to see and his fate as one of dance music’s major talents was reasonably sealed.

At the same time, Alland’s ongoing DJ residency at [KONTROL] found him sharing the stage with a roster of talent that reads like a who’s who in underground house and techno, leading to a solid demand for Alland at dance music gatherings around the globe – often as a headliner at renowned events and venues like Berlin’s Panoramabar, Waterate, Bar25 and Tresor, Munich’s Harry Klein, Brazil’s D-Edge, Tokyo’s La Fabrique, and Detroit’s annual DEMF Movement Festival among many others.

More recently, a move to Berlin has Alland expanding his horizons and focusing not only on DJing and producing but also, adding a greater organic touch to his productions – more vocals, more experimentation, and dare it be said, a little more techno soul.

Dave Aju

SF Bay Area native Marc Barrite created the DJ/Production alias Dave Aju as a vehicle for his inimitable, fresh, and expressive take on electronic dance music. Though raised on a strict diet of Jazz and Soul music, and several years of paying dues in the South Bay via various B-Boy and Hip-Hop crews, it wasn't until Barrite moved to his now home city of San Francisco that the final ingredients to the Dave Aju recipe were added. Immediately drawn to the open-mindedness of the SF underground scene, he soon found himself on the vanguard of contemporary dance music - happily straying far into left field from the traditional house and electro styles he had been busting moves to in earlier years. After an introduction to new ideas and production methods from college courses in Minimalism and 20th-Century composition, paired with exposure to the eccentric work of local techno sound manglers Kit Clayton, Sutekh, Twerk, et al., the character now known as Dave Aju was fully born.

With all of these facets in place and exciting new releases on the horizon - including his second full-length album Heirlooms for home-base label Circus Company and an eagerly-awaited EP for Matthew Herbert's Accidental Music, it's safe to say that Dave Aju, indeed the opposite of déja vu, is a seasoned veteran that's just getting warmed up.
